- Gram flour (besan) -1 cup
- Salt – 1/2 tsp
- Sugar- 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
- Eno fruit salt – 1 tsp
Dhokla is a traditional Gujrati food made with gram flour or besan. This mouth-watering dish can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch or as evening snacks. Dhoklas are healthy and easy to make! So put on your aprons, grab your spatulas and get ready to make dhoklas which will taste heavenly!

Step 1: Take a bowl and add the besan, sugar, salt and turmeric powder and mix everything well. After that, add water and whisk everything properly.
Step 2: After that, add water and whisk everything properly.
Step 3: The batter should be of flowing consistency and must not be much thick.
Then, rest the batter for about 10 mins.
Step 4: Take a cake tin and grease it with some oil.
Step 5: Add eno fruit salt just before pouring the batter into the cake tin and mix it mildly.
Step 6: Pour the batter instantly into the cake tin.
Step 7: Then heat a pressure cooker or some pot with some water in it. Place a stand inside it and let the water come to a boil.
Step 8: When the water starts to boil, place the cake tin on the stand in the pot using a cooking tong.
Step 9: Put a lid on the pressure cooker or pot and steam cook the dhokla for about 20 mins on medium low flame.
Step 10: Prick (create a tint hole inside) the Dhokla using a toothpick to check if it is fully cooked. Then Remove the tin and let it cool down completely.
Step 1: Heat a pan with some oil, add mustard seeds and let it pop.
Step 2: Then add green chilies, and curry leaves.
Step 3: After few mins, pour water and add salt and sugar.
Bring it to a boil and turn off the stove
Step 4: Add lemon juice, coriander leaves and stir well
Step 1: Check the dhokla and let it come to room temperature
Step 2: Take the dhokla from the cake tin and cut it into squares
Step 3: Pour the syrup onto the dhokla and let the dhokla soak in the tempering.
And finally garnish it with grated coconut and coriander leaves. The dhokla is ready to be served.
